Bucknell Volleyball Wraps Up 2007 with 3-0 Win Over Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. - Behind 10 kills and four service aces by junior Emilie Hardinge (Darien, Conn./Darien), the Bucknell volleyball team posted a 3-0 win over Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon to wrap up the 2007 season. The victory brings the Bison to 12-17 overall, 5-9 in league play, while the Crusaders drop to 4-24, 1-13 in the PL. In game one, Bucknell raced out to a 9-3 advantage and never trailed on the way to a 30-25 decision. Then in the second frame, the Bison opened in a similar fashion, building an 18-9 lead, with the help of a 6-1 run, and won game two, 30-17. Bucknell closed out the match with a 30-16 decision, behind its best team hitting percentage of the afternoon, .323, as the squad tallied 13 kills on 31 attempts with just three errors. Senior Jenna Henderson (Elk Grove, Calif./Laguna Creek) followed Hardinge's total of 10 kills with nine of her own and also contributed nine digs for the Orange and Blue. Classmate Tessa Mendez (Denver, Colo./Colorado Academy) hit .625 with five kills and no errors in eight attempts, while adding five blocks. Junior Sheena Czipri (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) recorded seven digs and three service aces and setters Shannon Pitsch (Oak Brook, Ill./Fenwick) and Allison Gittings (Dayton, Md./Glenelg) chipped in with 20 and 12 assists, respectively. Christine Strawson and Liz Auger registered six kills apiece to pace Holy Cross. Chelsey O'Donnell had 19 assists and Molly Anderson logged a match-best 14 digs. |
